Our Prison Chaplains

eric sIBOmana

I originally hail from Rwanda, and am married to my beautiful wife Tracy.

I am currently serving as prison chaplain in St.-Gilles and Nivelles prisons.

I am a member of Holy Trinity Brussels, where I lead a youth group called Ambassadors of Christ. Members are between 18 and 30 years old.

I am also on the national staff of an interdenominational Christian group known as Students for Christ, a group based in Brussels. I train student leaders, do mentoring and I am the national treasurer of the group.

I am married to Christine and we have children.

Originally, I am a priest in the Anglican Church in Rwanda, but now I work in the prisons of St.-Gilles, Forest, Lantin and Nivelles. I am also an assistant-priest at Holy Trinity Brussels.

As a prison chaplain, I try my best to learn everything I can. I love establishing bonds of confidence with people, listening to them, counselling them and motivating them.

In my spare time, I am also passionate about cooking.

I come from the Netherlands, although I have lived in Belgium for most of my adult life.

For over a decade, I have been the Anglican chaplain responsible for the prisons in Flanders, as well as being a Reader at St Boniface’s Antwerp.

I have the responsibility of preparing the annual report of the Anglican prison chaplains for the Central Committee.

Our prison chaplains are recognised and remunerated by the Federal Ministry of Justice. Grace West & Stephen Murray serve as Volunteer prison chaplains.
