During the ordination mass for Mgr Frédéric Rossignol as Bishop of Tournai, which happened on the same day as a heinous antisemitic attack in Sydney, Australia, in which Islamist terrorists murdered sixteen Jews celebrating Hanukkah, our friend and brother Mgr Luc Terlinden, Archbishop of Mechelen and Brussels, made a statement agreed beforehand with the chefs de culte, underlining the total solidarity of the recognised religions in Belgium against all forms of violence motivated by religious belief. It is impossible to overstate the extent to which the Central Committee supports Mgr Terlinden's condemnation of all religious violence and we will redouble our efforts to foster peace and harmony across religious communities in Belgium.
