In 2025, Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussel, Luc Terlinden named the Chaplain-President, Jack McDonald as a special advisor to the Belgian Roman Catholic Church on the topic of synodality. In July 2026, Jack accompanied Archbishop Luc and Koen Jacobs at the General Synod of the Church of England which took place in York. An interview was carried out by the Church Times on the learning between the two historic Christian denominations which appeared in a podcast form.
